The slumping Toronto Blue Jays (15-18 SU, 15-18 ATS) look to bounce back after falling on Friday to the Washington Nationals (16-16 SU, 20-12 ATS). The Jays appeared to have a victory sewn up Friday after Yusei Kikuchi gave them six innings of one-run baseball, but the Blue Jays' bullpen collapsed, allowing eight runs in the Nationals' final two innings at the plate.
Kevin Gausman gets the ball Saturday after three sharp starts, but the Jays are really tough to trust over the course of a full game given how weak the bullpen has been this season. Gausman has allowed just two earned runs and five runs overall in his past three starts, and it would be a shame to let the bullpen waste another strong start.

With how the Nationals are hitting the ball late, there are two ways to play this. You can either bank on the Nationals to make a comeback late, or you can go with the Blue Jays to get off to a good start and take the bullpen out of the equation.
Given that Jake Irvin hasn't exactly pitched well at Nationals Park and that Toronto's lineup still has potential for power, backing the comeback seems like an overly risky way to play this. Gausman has pitched very well as of late, and he's likely to continue putting up good numbers against a Nationals team that has scored one run or less in three of their past four games overall. With that being the case, our prediction for Toronto vs. Washington is for the Blue Jays to lead after the first five innings.
