The Mets won in their return to Citi Field in front of a sold-out crowd of nearly 50,000. Megill dominated the Blue Jays, and he has become a talisman for the team since Friday's victory gave the Mets the win in each of Megill's last eight starts. Although he only pitched 5.1 innings, the Mets' bullpen took over the remainder of the game. Kranick pitched the final two innings, struck out one, and earned the team's fourth win.

Of course, the spotlight was on new acquisition Juan Soto and his re-signing, Pete Alonso. Both seemed to enjoy the ovation: Soto went 1-for-4 with an RBI double, and Alonso hit a home run and went 2-for-3.

The Blue Jays still have a 5-3 record after sweeping the Nationals in Toronto, but they need consistency from their leadoff hitter, Bichette, who, despite starting the season well, has gone 0-for-9 in his last two games. Each side only managed four hits in Game 1, with Guerrero getting two for the Blue Jays.
