The Toronto Blue Jays (56-64 SU, 58-62 ATS) look to complete the sweep of the Los Angeles Angels (52-68 SU, 65-55 ATS), which would make it seven wins in nine games against the AL West. Toronto actually has a winning record against the AL West, which underscores both the overall weakness of that division and just how many issues the Jays have had in the stacked AL East.
The Angels seem to be disinterested in playing spoiler or doing much of anything productive the rest of the way. Los Angeles has now lost four of five, despite playing some of the lesser teams. It might be that the Angels only get up for the teams that have something to play for, as they went 7-2 against the Mets, Yankees and Mariners but 3-9 against the Nationals, Blue Jays, Rockies and Athletics.

If the Angels are going to avoid the sweep, they have the right pitcher on the mound. Tyler Anderson has his ERA just under 3 and has held five of his past six opponents to three runs or less. But if the Angels aren’t hitting, Anderson is going to have his problems. Against the Mets and Athletics, Anderson pitched fairly well, but his offense never hit worth anything.
Jose Berrios has been a tale of two situations. When he’s pitched at home, he’s been very difficult to beat. When he goes on the road, he’s very hittable. His ERA on the road is almost double what it is at home, although he also spent his past three road games against the Yankees, Orioles and Diamondbacks. The Angels don’t present anywhere near that threat, and they’re showing a lack of interest in facing weaker teams. Our prediction for Toronto vs. Los Angeles is for the Blue Jays to win.
