Boston Red Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays Prediction & Picks - MLB

The Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays will have their 3-game series decided this afternoon.

Boston had been on an incredible run before dropping the final game of their previous series to the Baltimore Orioles. After that, they regrouped and picked up a win in game one here against Toronto. They used RBI doubles from both Romy Gonzalez and Anthony Seigler to break a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the 8th and take a 6-4 lead. Aroldis Chapman came in to pick up his 24th save of the season.

In game two, the Blue Jays rode the back of starter Dylan Cease. He was masterful in the game. He struck out 12 while walking 3 and holding the Red Sox to a single hit for a complete game shutout. Guerrero Jr and Springer combined to go 5-9 from the plate and knocked in 5 RBIs to pace the offense.

In the rubber match this afternoon, the Blue Jays are likely not going to be leaning on starter Kevin Gausman. He enters the game with a 4-9 record and a 4.51 ERA. It is highly unlikely that he will put up a performance anywhere near the type that Cease put in last night. And for Boston, Ranger Suarez will look to pick up his 5th of the season.
