The Red Sox have certainly shown resilience in taking a few close games in the late innings; that was the hallmark of their legendary 15-game winning streak, the longest in MLB this year, where they fell one game short of setting a franchise record.

This streak has put the Red Sox firmly in the wild card race. It kept the team from becoming a seller in the trade window, and they quickly returned to winning. They won the first game of the series against the Blue Jays 6-4.

Friday's game against the Jays seemed under control when Boston took a 4-0 lead with home runs from Seigler, Rafaela, and a sacrifice fly by Monasterio. But then, with a home run by Okamoto, the Jays closed the gap, tied the game with a sacrifice fly by Jiménez, but then came a pair of RBI doubles from González and Seigler to give Boston the lead. Chapman came in to finish the game, earning his 24th save of the year and striking out two.
