The Blue Jays now have a 29-29 record; the reigning AL champions have returned to .500, and they did so in spectacular fashion, taking the second game of the four-game series against their divisional rivals, the Orioles.
In Game 2, the Orioles entered the game as -125 favorites. Incredibly, the Orioles rallied from a 5-0 deficit in the seventh inning. The Orioles attacked the Jays' bullpen first, with a home run by Holliday, Pete Alonso's eleventh of the season, and another by Basallo. But then Toronto's offense exploded in the seventh inning, and the Japanese third baseman ignited the spark with his 12th home run of the year. McAdoo hit his first with Varsho on base, and then Vlad Jr. hit an RBI double that scored Springer.
It was a frustrating loss for the Orioles, whose record has fallen to 6-5. After a strong first six innings in which they silenced the Jays' bats, they still lost, and Thornton finished with seven extra-base hits
