At the ATP event in Adelaide, Australia, there's a very interesting match due to take place during the early hours of Wednesday morning, at least for those viewing in the US. Thanasi Kokkinakis, who has dropped markedly in the rankings following a year off the court, will play just his second match since returning to action. The Aussie, who should have the support of the crowd in Adelaide, will be up against a player who until late in 2025 had very little experience at this level. 

Valentin Vacherot shook the tennis world when winning the Shanghai Masters as a complete outsider, propelling himself up the rankings and earning himself by far the biggest payday of his career. The Monégasque player has since delivered some decent performances too, showing that he may have the quality to stick around at ATP level. After one win and one loss so far in 2026, can he start to prove that his Shanghai success was not a fluke? We'll soon find out.
