Seattle is not out of the playoff hunt yet, but at six games back in the division and with just 16 games to go, they’ll need to go on a run and get some help. As for Texas, they are just two games behind the Astros in the AL West and 1.5 games back of the Cleveland Guardians for the final wild card spot in the AL.
Logan Gilbert is scheduled to get the start for the Mariners today at home. Gilbert has gone 11-9 in 28 starts this season, posting a 3.71 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP with teams hitting .221 against him. However, he has not been at his best at home, going 8-5 in 16 starts with a 4.45 ERA and a .220 OBA.

This is an interesting matchup. Neither pitcher will be in a position in which he has done well this season. Both have done okay against the other’s pitcher in the past; Seattle has hit .246 against deGrom and the Rangers have hit .255 against Gilbert. Texas blew up with 10 runs on Tuesday but only managed two yesterday. I’d consider the Rangers to win at +109 a solid value play, but with the total set so low (6.5), I feel compelled to go with the Over. Yes, yesterday was a low-scoring contest, but the day before was just the opposite.
