Saturday’s Game 2 of the series between the Texas Rangers and the Seattle Mariners will cap a busy schedule around the MLB.
The Rangers have hit the wall after a torrid start, losing three of their last four assignments to drop to a still AL West-best 9-5 record. After flexing terrific pitching through the first two weeks, the Rangers have allowed 24 runs in four games. The worst of the bunch happened in Game 2 of their series against the Cubs, where they conceded 10 runs.
The Mariners have gained some traction this week, winning three of their last four games. In the last five games, Seattle has posted a 2.64 ERA and almost five runs per game despite batting only .195 at the plate. Their recent success has pushed the Mariners’ record to 6-8.

Prediction: Rangers’ Bullpen falters again to spoil Kumar Rockers’ exploits and push the total to go over 7.9 runs.
Fresh off an impressive outing vs Tampa Bay, where he allowed one earned run in five innings, Kumar Rocker will try to claim his first win vs the Mariners on Saturday. I think Rocker would do well in his third start this year. I believe he would limit run opportunities for the Mariners for 5 or 6 innings until the Rangers underperforming bullpen blows another lead again by allowing multiple runs in the final innings. Over their last five games, the Rangers bullpen has posted a horrendous 6.23 ERA. In their last three meetings, the two teams combined for 10.43 runs per game, going OVER three times.
