The Giants will host the Texas Rangers in a three-game series this weekend, starting with Game One Friday night at Oracle Park in San Francisco, CA. Fans can follow the action on Apple TV+ once the game gets underway at 10:15 p.m. EST.
It has been a rough week for the Rangers, starting with a loss to the Dodgers last Friday. Between that series and the three-game series Texas just finished vs. the Athletics, the Rangers have gone 2-4 this past week. They had a 3-2 lead for much of the game Thursday night, but a pair of singles in the ninth plated two for the A’s and gave the Athletics the win. As for the Giants, San Francisco just finished a four-game series with the Brewers, taking three of four, including yesterday’s game, 6-5.
Texas will go with Nathan Eovaldi on the mound tonight. Eovaldi is 1-2 in five starts with a 2.64 ERA and .75 WHIP. San Francisco is scheduled to go with Justin Verlander. The 42-year-old righty has gone 0-1 in five starts this season with a 5.47 ERA and 1.50 WHIP.

I am not a fan of this season’s version of Justin Verlander, but the Giants have been lights out at home this season (12-1) while Texas has struggled on the road (4-8). On the surface, this one looks like it could turn into a higher-scoring contest. But with how well Eovaldi has pitched all season and considering how good Verlander’s last outing was (six innings, two hits (one home run), and one earned run), I’m thinking the score will be low.
