The Brewers have had a month in August that has reaffirmed their status as serious World Series contenders. Their +800 odds to win the title may not reflect the fact that, at 84-51, they have the best record in MLB; they currently hold an eight-game lead over their divisional rival, the Cubs. They've won seven of their last ten games and took an early lead in the weekend series against the Rangers.

Once again, the Brewers are doing things right, both hitting and pitching. On Friday, against the Rangers, Milwaukee's starter Henderson went seven innings, followed by relievers Ashby and Hall, limiting Texas to just two hits. Meanwhile, their offense responded: Yelcih went 3-for-5, Bauers went 2-for-2, and Frelick and Hamilton, batting last, contributed four of the Brewers' 14 hits.

The Rangers are entering a crucial month and still have a serious playoff chance; they're only two games behind the Guardians, who currently hold the final playoff spot. But at this critical point in the season, they're currently on a three-game losing streak.
