The Texas Rangers will try to keep the good times rolling today when they kick off a three-game series vs. the Los Angeles Angels at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, CA. Game One is scheduled for today at 9:38 p.m. EST.
With an 8-12 win over the Atlanta Braves yesterday, the Rangers completed a nine-game homestand to open the second half of the season. Since the Break, the Rangers have been on fire, winning eight of nine games, including sweeps of the Athletics and Braves. The Angels have not been as fortunate, going 2-4 on the road to start the second half and then splitting a four-game series vs. the Mariners.
Jack Kochanowicz is scheduled to get the start for LA. He has gone 3-9 in 19 starts with a 6.03 ERA, 1.63 WHIP, and .298 OBA. The downside to betting on baseball is that anyone can win on any given day. But if you were to take a good look at these two teams, it’s obvious who should win this game. Texas is not a great hitting team, but they may look like one today against Kochanowicz. If the Angels pull him early, their bullpen isn’t much better. However, it will not be surprising to see deGrom shut the Angels down completely. He is 4-0 in nine road starts this season; today should make it 5-0. I considered going with the alternate run line for this game at -2.5, but the Rangers are hitting only .231 this season. Let’s stick with the traditional run line instead.
