The Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers will face off Friday at Comerica Park in the opening game of a three-game weekend series. Texas started the season strong, winning their series against the Red Sox and taking two out of three from the Reds before sweeping the Rays.
However, the Rangers still trail the Seattle Mariners by five games in the American League West and currently sit in fourth place in the division.
Detroit, on the other hand, has been impressive so far, holding a 25-13 overall record and leading the American League Central by 2.5 games over both the Guardians and Royals.
The Tigers have been particularly dominant at home, boasting a 13-3 record at Comerica Park. Their offense has been a major strength, ranking fourth in MLB in total runs and averaging an impressive 5.3 runs per game.

Skubal has been in excellent form recently, allowing only three earned runs over his last 17 innings, with 15 hits, one walk, and a 1-0 record across those three outings. He most recently pitched to a no-decision against the Angels on May 2.
Corbin has also held his own, surrendering five earned runs over his last three starts (15.1 innings), with 19 hits and five walks. He’s 1-1 during that stretch and most recently went 5.2 innings with one earned run in a no-decision against the Mariners on May 3.
