The 8-8 Texas Rangers take on the 9-6 Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park on Monday night. Texas will go with Michael Lorenzen who will be making his season debut. The Tigers will have Reese Olson making his 3rd start of the season. Olson is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA. He was great against the Mets in his initial start but was tagged for 6 earned in 4.1 innings against the Pirates in his latest start. The Tigers as a team have lost 5 of their last 8 games. Matt Vierling has gone 10-25 over that 8-game stretch and has been the biggest part of their offense. The Rangers have not been much better and have lost 6 of their last 8. They lost 8-5 to the Astros after a failed rally attempt in the 9th on Sunday. Marcus Semien hit a 3-run homer in the 9th but that was not enough as Josh Hader came in to get the final out for the Astros. As a pitching staff, both teams have solid combined opposition batting averages. The Rangers are 5th (.223) while the Tigers are 1st (.203). The Rangers hold the advantage on the offensive side where they rank 4th in hitting compared to Detroit who is 25th.
