We saw some good action in the first game of the series between the Rangers and the Rockies at Coors Field. Texas was the favorite at -140 in the pre-game odds, but lost to Colorado, which has the second-worst record in all of MLB.

On Monday, the Rockies relied on a strong outing from veteran starter, Colombian José Quintana, who pitched 5.2 innings with 3 earned runs, but ultimately took the loss, as the Rockies scored two runs in the first, third, and fourth innings. However, the Rangers didn't leave Coors Field without a fight. In a game that was 7-3 in the sixth inning, the Rangers managed to close the gap to 7-6. This was thanks in part to the hitting of Justin Foscue, who has already started three games since being called up from Triple-A. He brought things closer with a solo home run and an RBI double. But for the Rockies, closer Mejía pitched the final scoreless inning and prevented a Texas comeback.
