The Cubs are averaging 7.1 runs per game over their last five games, while the Rangers are scoring just 3.6 runs per game but really dominating foes from the mound with an outstanding 1.80 ERA in their last five. Texas starter Nathan Eovaldi is set to make his third start this season. Eovaldi has only surrendered two runs so far this season and struck out 17 batters already this season. Justin Steele, though, has been erratic in his last two starts. He gave up three earned runs over 5.0 innings in a 10-7 win over Arizona and four earned runs over 4.0 innings in a 7-4 win over the Braves. This game is all about the Rangers’ defensive masterclass vs. the Cubs’ high-octane offense. In this particular game, I am siding with the Rangers because of how dominant Eovaldi has played in his last two starts. I expect him to set the tone early before the Rangers bullpen, which has a 3.63 ERA this season, shuts down the home team.
