Taylor Fritz of the United States will take on Quentin Halys of France in the second round of the 2025 Geneva Open.
Fritz is set to play his first match in Geneva after receiving a bye into the second round. The No.1 seed Ruud is aiming for a better result in the Swiss metropolis after bowing to compatriot Marcos Giron 7-6(4) 7-6(3) in the second round of the 2025 Italian Open.
Halys, meanwhile, secured his slot in the second round with a come-from-behind win over Jaume Munar Clar of Spain 4-6 6-3 7-6(5). After three consecutive first-round exits in this clay-court season and a second-round finish in the Bordeaux Challenger, Halys exorcised his demons at last as he delivered one of the gutsiest wins of his career. The Frenchman scored 41 first-serve points, but the most important points came at the clutch, particularly in the third-set tiebreaker, to capture the win.

Our Taylor Fritz vs Quentin Halys Prediction
Fearless Forecast: Quentin Halys gives Taylor Fritz a tough second-round match to cover the spread
After three first-round exits, Halys has started to play solid tennis on clay over his past three matches. In this stretch, Halys has gone 2-1, losing only to Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia in a hard-fought duel, 7-6(7) 7-6(4). While I am 50-50 whether Halys can pull off an upset against Fritz, I think the Frenchman’s recent form makes him prepared to take on the No.1 seed on the red dirt. Remember, Fritz is coming off a second-round stunner to Marcos Giron in Rome, so there’s the assumption that he’s not in his best shape mentally heading into his opening match in Geneva.
