The Tampa Bay Rays have been rolling in their 4-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays. In fact, a win today would give them the 4-game sweep.
The tone was set in game one when the Rays rode the back of starter Nick Martinez, who went 6 innings strong. He allowed only 1 run on 6 hits and picked up his 9th win of the season. Junior Caminero led the offense by going 3-4 with 2 doubles and knocking in 2 runs in the 7-1 victory.
Game two was more of the same for the Rays. Drew Rasmussen went 5 innings and allowed just 2 runs for a win. Yandy Diaz, Nick Fortes, and Jonny Deluca combined to go 7-17 with 2 home runs and 10 RBIs. The 12-2 win was the largest offensive output by the Rays in the month.
In the latest matchup, the Rays offense was not as explosive. That said, they still got another great outing from their starter. This time, Griffin Jax held the Blue Jays to 1 run on just 3 hits in 6 innings. With the sweep on the line today, it won’t be easy for the Jays to get things turned around, especially with Shane Bieber’s 5.70 ERA on the mound.
