The Rangers return home for this season after beating the Reds 2-1 in a three-game series in Cincinnati this week. After losing the series opener 14-3, the team buckled down and won the last two games 1-0. Nathan Eovaldi pitched a complete game shutout in one, and Jack Leiter pitched five shutout innings in the other to lead the team to victory. As for the Rays, they finished up a three-game series at home vs. the Pirates on Wednesday, losing 4-2. This game will be the first away from home for Tampa Bay this season.
Tampa Bay will turn to Zack Littel to start tonight. The right-hander lost his first start of the season, not so much because he had an off night (six innings, one earned run, four hits, and seven strikeouts). He got no run support as the Rays lost to the Rockies 2-1. Texas is giving the ball to a right-hander, Tyler Mahle, as well. He struggled with his control in his first outing, lasting 1 2/3 innings against the Red Sox, recording two hits, one earned run, three strikeouts, and four walks.
