The Seattle Mariners will host the Tampa Bay Rays this afternoon. The Mariners (63-53) come into this series as among the hottest clubs in the league, having been winners of four straight games. The Mariners just completed a series sweep of the White Sox and now find themselves ten games above .500, solidly within the AL playoffs.

Seattle has been clicking on both sides of the ball: throughout this stretch their offense has been generating approximately five runs per game while their pitching staff remains within the league's better units. The Mariners also come out swinging on the road, making T-Mobile Park a challenging visit for away clubs.

Rays (57-59) have had a roller-coaster season sitting right on the .500 line. They do come into town, however, with a bit of momentum after back-to-back wins, including a 5-4 victory over the Angels last weekend to conclude their last series. The Rays offense certainly has the ability to make some trouble. Twenty-year-old rookie Junior Caminero has seemingly come out of nowhere with a league-leading 30 homers and 76 RBIs, lending much-needed pop to the middle of the order.

He’s supported by experienced hitters like Yandy Díaz (a high-average, 20-homer bat) and Brandon Lowe (another 20-homer hitter) in a lineup that can explode on a given night, though consistency has been an issue.
