The Tampa Bay Rays (66-66 SU, 65-67 ATS) conclude their series with the Seattle Mariners (67-66 SU, 54-79 ATS) looking to finally win a series away from Tropicana Field. The Rays enter this series finale having failed to win any of their past four series on the road and having fallen short in five of six overall. However, the Rays have only lost one series against an AL West opponent all year, which really speaks to the overall weakness of that division.
The Mariners are trying to get themselves back in the race in the AL West, and they have an opportunity if Houston keeps losing. Seattle’s lack of offense bit it again on Tuesday, as the Mariners could only manage two runs and wasted another start from Logan Gilbert. Seattle didn’t lose any ground because Houston has run into a difficult part of its schedule, but the Astros are eventually going to run out of games against upper echelon opponents. At some point, the Mariners have to do things on their own.

Luis Castillo hasn’t looked good in his past few starts. He gutted his way into the sixth inning again because that’s what he does, but he’s having trouble keeping the ball in the park. Giving up two home runs to Pittsburgh wasn’t good, as the Pirates rank 25th in home runs. Giving up three at home to the Giants was worse, as few parks play more pitcher-friendly than T-Mobile Park.
The Rays will go with a bullpen game, because that’s what Tampa Bay does every so often. Drew Rasmussen hasn’t given up a run on the road yet this season, which includes appearances against both Oakland and Los Angeles on this road swing. He isn’t going to last more than two innings, but Tampa Bay’s bullpen should be strong enough to handle Seattle’s weak offense. With Castillo struggling, the visitors offer good value. Our prediction for Tampa Bay vs. Seattle is for the Rays to win.
