The Rays continue their road trip through the western United States. After a successful series in the Arizona Desert, where they managed to win two games in extra innings by hitting at the right time, they defeated the D-backs 2 games to 1, bringing their record to 11-14.

Now, the Rays face a three-game series against the Padres at Petco Park, the best home team in the MLB, which currently boasts a 12-1 record. Meanwhile, due to scheduling reasons and to avoid the rainy season, this will be just their third road series for the Rays in 2025.

Bookies predict a low-scoring contest at Petco Park, considered a pitchers' park, but the strength of the starting pitchers could also play a role.

King will be pitching for the Padres, and while the Padres lost 2-3 to the Astros the last time King started, the Padres have won all four of his previous starts. In April and in San Diego, King was solid, not allowing a single ER in 14 innings against the Guardians and against the Rockies.
