The Tampa Bay Rays are looking to continue their hot streak as they roll into Sacramento to take on the Athletics tonight and begin a 3-game series.

The Rays have rattled off 6 straight wins and now sit 5.5 games above the Yankees for the lead in the AL East Division. They’ve won these last 6 games in a variety of ways. They took their 1st two against Colorado in high-scoring affairs where the teams combined for a total of 38 runs. They then swept the Mariners and won those 1st two games by just a single run and scored a total of just 5 runs. They currently are the top team in the American League and look to extend their lead in that department.

The Athletics are on the opposite end of those league standings. They lead only the Angels at the very bottom of the American League. They are coming off back-to-back wins over the Red Sox, but had lost 9 of their previous games and won just 5 games total in the month of July. They look to continue their winning ways here against the Rays, who they have yet to face this season. They will likely need to have their bats do the heavy lifting, as they are starting Jacob Lopez, who has a 5.64 ERA.
