The Miami Marlins (30-35, 19-16 Home) got back on track yesterday with a 4-3 win over the visiting Tampa Bay Rays at loanDepot park. Can they make it two in a row and win the series by taking Game 3 today? We’ll find out when the game gets underway at 1:40 p.m. EST on MLB.TV.
After losing Game 1 of the series on Friday (6-0), Miami came out on top Saturday in Game 2. The Marlins got out to a 4-0 lead after scoring two in the bottom of the sixth, but survived a late Tampa Bay rally as the Rays tacked on two in the top of the ninth to make the final 4-3.
Miami is scheduled to send Sandy Alcantara to the mound to start the day. Alcantara is 4-4 in 12 starts with a 4.59 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP. He tends to do his best work at home, where he is 2-2 in seven starts with one complete game, an ERA of 3.74, and an OBA of .216.

Neither lineup has been hitting well; Miami has hit .221 over the last week, and Tampa Bay has just hit .208. So, since neither has a real advantage at the plate, I have to look to the mound. Sandy Alcantara is not an overly impressive pitcher, but I like him over Griffin Jax and the Tampa Bay bullpen even less. I feel like I need to go with the lesser of two bad choices and take the Rays to win outright.
