Detroit Tigers (61-69) and Tampa Bay Rays (77-53) will open their three-game series on Monday night at Comerica Park. The Tigers will be keen to win and bounce back from their 3-0 series loss away to the Royals last week. In their most recent assignment, they were hammered 11-7 on Sunday, taking the total runs conceded during the series to 19. They desperately need to win this series to salvage their season, which is slowly slipping away.
Like the Tigers, the Rays have also run out of steam lately, going 3-7 in their last 10 assignments. They’re coming off a 3-1 win over the Orioles, although they dropped the three-game series 2-1. It was a critical win for the Rays, who had earlier lost three straight matches. But despite this disappointing run, they still have the best record in the American League. The Rays sit on top of the AL East, three games ahead of the Yankees. They’re the -140 betting favorites tonight.
