The Yankees lost the AL East lead due to their losing streak, which reached its breaking point after six straight losses to the Blue Jays and then the Mets. At least the Yankees were able to take the final game of the Subway Series against the Mets with Judge's 33rd home run of the year. The captain emerged from the collective slump much sooner than his teammates. Still, winning that game does nothing to appease the die-hard Yankees fans who blame the losing streak on Aaron Boone's decisions, Volpe's poor hitting form, or the excessive strikeouts. With this, the Yankees have lost three of their last four series and hope to turn the momentum around in their new series against the Mariners.
