The Tampa Bay Rays (3-4 SU, 3-4 ATS) get a chance to right the ship against the Colorado Rockies (1-6 SU, 2-5 ATS) after a difficult first week of the season. Tampa Bay faced a tough opening stretch in facing Texas and Toronto, and the Rays should have an easier time against Colorado’s weak pitching staff. The Rays actually haven’t played a close game yet in 2024, as they’ve managed to bunch most of their runs into games where the pitchers had a good day.
The Rockies haven’t had many good days this season, which hasn’t surprised anybody. Colorado hasn’t yet played at home this season and comes in on a four-game skid in which the pitchers performed like they were at Coors Field. Over the past four games, the Rockies have been outscored 31-11, and eight of those runs came in one game.

It’s hard to overstate how bad the Rockies’ pitchers have been this season. Colorado pitchers have an ERA of 8.37 and hitters have a batting average of .329 against them. Both of those are league worsts, and the Rockies’ offense hasn’t been good enough to offset that. Colorado also routinely becomes its own worst enemy in putting hitters on base, issuing 35 free passes.
The Rays haven’t gotten off to a great start, but that seems to be more of a product of the schedule than anything else. When they play well, they’re a tough team to beat. Zack Littell looked sharp against Toronto last time out, and he should be able to build on that against Colorado. Our prediction for Tampa Bay vs. Colorado is Rays -1.5.
