The top of the Guardians' lineup failed to respond; the Guards had some chance of contending for the last AL Wild Card, but their five-game losing streak appears to have left them with no chance. The Guardians were swept in Texas, but they hope for a bounce back when they host the Rays in Cleveland.

The Rays, meanwhile, are coming off a win in their previous series against the Cardinals. Tampa lost the first game of that series 4-7 and won the second 10-6 and the third 7-2. In Sunday's series, Pepiot pitched five innings, while Morel hit a solo home run, but Caminero was once again the hero, hitting a grand slam that was his 37th of the season. Speedster Simpson also hit an RBI triple.

This will be the first of six games the Rays and Guardians will play in a two-week span. Ian Seymour, a pitcher recently returning to the major leagues and recalled from Triple-A after the Rays traded Litell to the Reds, will start Monday's game for Tampa.
