Cardinals left-hander Matthew Liberatore pitched seven innings, allowing only one earned run in his last outing against the Diamondbacks' tough lineup in a series sweep. Prior to that, Liberatore had also allowed only one earned run against the Royals, and the Cards' pitcher, whose recent strong numbers are also reflected in the team's 32-24 record. The Cardinals manager referred to Liberatore, saying he has conviction and doesn't care who steps into the batter's box.

Now the Cardinals travel to Texas to face the Rangers in a repeat of the much-remembered 2011 World Series.

While the Cards are one of the hottest teams in MLB with a splendid May, and before traveling to Texas, they are coming off a one-run sweep of the D-backs, winning three games in all three games, and then defeating the Orioles 2 games to 1 in Baltimore, their collective AVG this season is the second-best in MLB at 262.
