The Cardinals are also dispatching left-handed pitcher Matthew Liberatore for Monday’s series opener. Honestly, I don’t expect much from Liberatore after throwing three runs in six innings in a 7-9 loss to the LA Angels on April 1. However, I still think he would deliver better numbers than Pirates starter Carmin Mlodzinski, who comes into Monday’s ballgame with a 9.82 ERA after surrendering four earned runs vs. the Dodgers. A high-scoring matchup is likely since we have two starters who allowed too many runs in their previous starts. I still feel the Cardinals have an edge in this game because of their high-powered offense.
