In St. Louis, the Cardinals won their first series of the year against the Phillies, and the rematch will now take place at Citizens Bank Park with both teams on a positive note and hot bats.

The Phillies took the final two games of the series against the Guardians at Progressville Field. They won Game 3 3-0, with Wheeler standing out, once again living up to his name as the team's ace, pitching seven scoreless innings against the Guardians' tough lineup. Schwarber stood out the most, however, as he hit the 13th and 14th home runs, driving in all three of the Phillies' home runs. He tied Judge for the MLB home run lead.

But the Cardinals, thanks to their ongoing eight-game winning streak, have turned their record around to a winning streak, now at 22-19. They swept the Nationals in DC. Arenado and Contreras, the latter having a strong May, were the architects of the Cardinals' victory. This team has a high batting average, and with a middling/good starting rotation, they have the resources to compete with the Cubs for the division.
