It seems the Mets' pitching is particularly good when playing at Citi Field, and on Thursday against the Cardinals in Game 1, they gave further reason to believe this when they held the visitors to one run on just three hits to take the first game of the four-game series 4-1.

The Mets' four runs came in the second inning, starting with a home run by Vientos, an RBI hit by Baty, and a two-run hit by Lindor. Soto, in turn, recorded another no-hit day, and his offensive output is starting to worry him. Although Alonso also went 0-for-4, the Mets' excellent pitching doesn't seem to care yet, as the team's record is 11-5 and 5-1 in Queens.

Canning pitched a great game, earning the W, his second of the season, pitching six innings and striking out eight. Meanwhile, Díaz recovered and earned his fourth save of the season, striking out two Cardinals.

Incredibly, every Cardinals player on Thursday struck out, except for Arenado. With this, the Mets have won their last five games against the Cardinals.
