Booked as a +110 underdog, Lorenzo Sonego of Italy will battle Jaume Munar Clar of Spain in the round of 16 at the 2025 Winston-Salem Open on Wednesday.
Sonego opened his campaign in Winston-Salem with a gritty victory over Stefan Dostanic of the United States, 6-3 6-7(2) 7-6(3). Sonego, who reached his first Grand Slam quarterfinals at the 2025 Australian Open, demonstrated poise to outlast the upset-minded Dostanic in the thrilling third set. Sonego collected 57 points behind the first serves and broke three times on 37 return points.
Munar made quick work of Mattia Bellucci of Italy in the previous round, 6-3 , 6-1. The Spaniard got the better of the exchanges by securing 81 percent of her first serves and capturing five breakpoint conversions. Munar is 8-7 on the hard court this year and 20-20 on the 2025 ATP season.
