Sweden and Slovakia clash in the final round of Group B action at the 2026 Olympic men's ice hockey tournament on Saturday at the PalaItalia Santa Giulia in Milan.
Slovakia has a perfect record after two games, beating Finland 4-1 and Italy 3-2. After stunning the Fins with a big victory, Slovakia had to work much harder for the win on Friday. The hosts put up a great fight and got close to extending the game.
Following a three-point effort in the opening round, Juraj Slafkovsky made an impact with a power-play assist. The Montreal Canadiens' talent looks in great form and will be the man to stop for the Swedes.
Sweden also fought against Italy but managed to win 5-2. They fired a whopping 60 shots on goal, but Anaheim Ducks prospect Damian Clara had an outstanding performance in the Italy net.
On Friday, Sweden found it much harder to create scoring opportunities against Finland, losing 4-1. Tre Kronor got their only goal on a power play, while Filip Gustavsson had a bad day at the office. The Minnesota Wild netminder finished with a .870 save percentage.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for Team Sweden's character. If they want to compete for first place in the group, they need to improve quickly on Friday's performance.

Our Sweden vs Slovakia Prediction
Sweden is stacked with NHL quality, as the roster has played a combined 16,880 regular-season games and scored 10,619 points. Yet the superstars have struggled to mesh as a team, and Sam Hallam's side appears to be overrated in this matchup.
Slovakia definitely rode its luck against Finland, but the team also showed great offensive threat. They look like a better unit compared to Sweden, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Slafkovsky & Co. keep this one close.
Our prediction for Sweden vs. Slovakia : Slovakia +2.5.
