Sevilla FC, currently in 14th place, is in serious danger at the start of the second half of the La Liga season, as the Basque club has only a narrow two-point lead over the relegation zone and Deportivo Alavés, in 18th place. Another poor performance at home would cause turmoil within the Andalusian club, which has already suffered 11 defeats in 20 games. The Seville club has not won since December 14 and is on a current run of five games without a win (one draw and four defeats).
Eliminated from the Copa del Rey in Alavés (1-0) in mid-December, Sevilla FC then took just one point from their last four league games in Elche (2-2) on Monday evening. Prior to that, Adams' teammates (5 goals) had lost back-to-back league games in Madrid (2-0), against promoted Levante (0-3) and against Celta Vigo (0-1).
Athletic Bilbao achieved a resounding historic victory in the Champions League on Wednesday. The Basque club won 3-2 away to Atalanta in Bergamo thanks to an outstanding performance from midfielder Robert Navarro, who scored one goal and provided two assists. The Basque club is now back in the running for qualification and sits in 23rd place (qualifying for the round of 32) in this season's Champions League.
Bilbao has its European destiny in its own hands, and a win against Sporting CP on the final day of the group stage would see it qualify for the knockout stages. This will give a big confidence boost to the Basque team, which is still in the Copa del Rey (quarterfinals to be played) but has struggled in the league in recent weeks (one draw and three defeats). Defeated in Mallorca (3-2) on the last day of La Liga, Bilbao, in 10th place, is aiming for at least one point in Andalusia to remain in the top half of the table.

Our Sevilla vs Athletic Bilbao Prediction
Buoyed by its European success on Atalanta Bergamo's home turf (2-3) on Wednesday evening, Athletic Bilbao could use this benchmark match to string together a series of good results in the Spanish league. The Basque club needs a winning streak to close in on the top six... a top six that is currently eight points ahead of the current 10th-placed team in La Liga. Sevilla FC, which has the third-worst home record (3 wins, 1 draw, 6 losses), has lost 3 of its last 4 matches played at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan and is in a total loss of confidence with a current streak of 5 matches without a win (1 draw and 4 losses).
Our prediction for Sevilla FC vs. Athletic Bilbao: Double Chance: Draw or Athletic Bilbao
