Seattle Reign and Gotham FC will open the 2025 NWSL season with a clash at Lumen Field on Saturday night. Seattle Reign will be looking to impress this season after a disappointing campaign in 2024. They failed to make the playoffs after finishing in 13th spot with 26 points. Seattle must do better on both ends of the pitch this season to achieve their postseason dreams.
They were slow in attack, scoring only 27 goals while conceding 44 goals, which is the highest in the league. Laura Harvey’s ladies can show they have improved when they face Gotham, who finished third last season with 56 points. The evidently talented Gotham FC were considered one of the top teams last season, although they crashed out of the postseason after losing to Washington Spirit in the semis. They have strengthened their ranks with Portilho, who won silver at last year’s Paris Olympics, making them an exciting side to watch this season.
