The Padres (12-6, 8-4 Home) will go for the series sweep tonight when they host the Seattle Mariners (8-11, 1-7 Away) at 8:40 p.m. EST at Petco Park in San Diego, CA, with coverage on MLB.TV.
San Diego has been on a roll, and with a win tonight, the Padres can complete their first homestand sweep of the season and extend their winning streak to eight games. It started with an 8-2 win over the Pirates in Pittsburgh, continued at home with a four-game sweep of the Rockies, and continued with a 4-1 win over the Mariners on Tuesday and a 7-6 victory yesterday.
Walker Buehler is scheduled to get the start for San Diego tonight. Buehler struggled in his first two outings of the season, giving up five hits and three runs in four innings vs. the Giants and getting tagged for four runs in 2 2/3 innings vs. the Red Sox. But he was solid in his last outing vs. the Rockies (six innings, three hits, 0 runs).
Seattle is expected to go with Luis Castillo. Unlike Buehler, he had his best start of the season, his first time out, vs. the Yankees (six innings, three hits, 0 runs), but has struggled since. He gave up six hits and three earned runs vs. the Angels and tagged for seven in 3 1/3 vs. the Astros.

Seattle has been hitting the ball well of late and scoring runs, but their stats may be a bit inflated after facing a Houston team that is struggling with its pitching and defense. Yes, they got six runs yesterday, but they were held to one the day before and to three total in three games vs. Texas. As for San Diego, the Padres have hit .299 over the last week and averaged 6+ runs a game. I expect San Diego to win, but since neither starting pitcher is impressive, I’m going with the OVER.
