The Yankees (33-16) had their 7-game win streak snapped on Monday. Leading 4-1 in the 9th, Clay Holmes came in to close things out but gave up 4 runs on 4 hits in just 2/3 of an inning before Andres Munoz came in for the M’s to close things out by striking out 2 and allowing just a hit to Soto. Seattle Mariners (26-22) are in a 4-game set here during their 10-game road trip to the east coast. They lost their 1st series against the Baltimore Orioles after losing 6-3 on Sunday to them. Seattle will throw Bryan Woo (1-0, 0.93), who has looked extremely sharp in his 1st 2 starts this season. He has allowed just 1 run on 4 hits in 9.2 innings of work against the A’s and Royals. He has also struck out 8 batters while walking just 2. This potent Yankee lineup will offer a better barometer for just how good this youngster really is going to be this season. The Yanks will counter with Clarke Schmidt (5-1, 2.49) who has been the best starter along with Luis Gil to this point in the season. Clarke is coming off his strongest outing of the season in his last start. He went 8 innings of shutout work while allowing jus 3 hits and striking out 8.
