The Seattle Mariners (19-16 SU, 17-18 ATS) play the second game of their series against the Minnesota Twins (20-14 SU, 17-17 ATS) after losing three of their past four. Hitting hasn’t been one of the Mariners’ strong suits this season; Seattle ranks fourth from the bottom in runs generated. The pitching has been outstanding for the Mariners, which has meant a lot of low-scoring games.
For the Twins, questions abound as to how good they really are. Minnesota did win 12 straight games to close out April, but there’s reason to believe that was a scheduling quirk. The majority of those wins came because of the Twins getting to brutalize the putrid Angels and White Sox, the two weakest teams in the American League. Against Seattle, success might be harder to come by.

Bailey Ober has struggled to perform away from Target Field, but he’s done a fine job pitching in Minneapolis. His ERA is 1.64 in home games this season, compared to 6.10 on the road. With Seattle struggling to hit no matter where the game is played, this matchup should result in another quality start for Ober, who has given up two runs or less in four of his past five trips to the mound.
Seattle counters with Emerson Hancock, who has mostly been let down by bad defense as of late. Out of the past 10 runs scored against him, five of them were unearned. He hasn’t given up more than two earned runs in any of his past four starts, and he hasn’t given up more than five hits in any of those games.
