The Astros will host the Seattle Mariners in Game Two of a three-game weekend series at Daikin Park in Houston, TX, today. First Pitch for this AL West battle for control of the division pennant is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast on MLB TV.

After Friday’s 4-0 win over the Astros, the Mariners slid into first in the AL West. Houston has held the top spot in the division for most of the season but has played inconsistently down the stretch (6-4 in their last ten) while the Mariners have been winning games (9-1 in their last ten). But Houston has the easier road in the final week with three vs. the A’s in Sacramento and three vs. the Angels in LA. The Mariners have a series vs. the Rockies and the Dodgers. The pitching matchup favors the Astros today with Framber Valdez (12-10, 3.59 ERA) taking the mound against George Kirby (9-7, 4.46 ERA). Valdez has struggled this month, posting a 7.88 ERA through three games, but has been solid at home this season (6-3 in 14 starts with a 2.21 ERA and .217 OBA. Kirby has had some issues on the road, posting a 4-4 record in ten starts with a 5.74 ERA and .285 OBA.
