The Cleveland Guardians (42-39) are coming off a losing series against the Chicago White Sox. They finished their road trip just 3-6 and are looking forward to hosting the Seattle Mariners (41-41) for their weekend series that begins tonight.
The Guardians managed just 15 runs in the 6 losses they accrued during their road trip. While the road was unkind, they did pick up a win over the White Sox in the final game of their series on Wednesday evening. Kahlil Watson was the hero as he knocked in what would be the game-winning run in extra innings.
For Seattle, this will be their second straight road series. They lost two out of three in Pittsburgh during the week. They were outscored in the series by a total of 18-5. Their struggles to score runs have been an issue all season, and if it wasn’t for the long ball, they would be struggling even more. They are top 10 in home runs on the season, but are sitting in 22nd in total runs scored.
Neither of these teams has been having consistent success at the plate. While neither starter will be an ace, they should still be able to navigate through these weak lineups.

Both pitchers should do their part in keeping this one low-scoring.
