Boston Red Sox vs Seattle Mariners Prediction & Picks - MLB

The buzz around the Boston Red Sox was wild for a few months. However, the month of August showed some cracks. They went on a 5-game losing streak in the middle of the month and lost 4 of their last 5 games to finish it up. They were still over .500, but showed that they still are beatable. Tonight, they face the Seattle Mariners for game two of their 3-game series in Boston.

In game one, the Red Sox came out victorious in a strong comeback performance. Trailing 8-5 in the 8th, Trevor Story hit a double that brought them within 1. Then, in the 9th, Ceddanne Rafaela hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game and send it to extra innings. There, Trevor Story walked it off with an RBI single to deep center to secure the win. Randy Arozarena’s 4-for-5 performance with 4 RBIs was spoiled in the loss for Seattle.

Tonight, Bryan Woo is scheduled to start for the Mariners and has shown glimpses of greatness this season, while also showing mediocrity. Against the Tigers and Yankees, he went a combined 12 innings of shutout work in 2 of his 4 recent starts. Then, last outing, he gave up 6 runs in 4 innings against the surging Phillies. That said, it is Boston that will have the true question mark in the pitching matchup. Sonny Gray was scheduled to start, but as of now, Boston has not named a starter. It looks like Gray will skip this start, and that could be a problem for the Red Sox, who have been playing great in Gray’s starts.
