The Red Sox got even with the White Sox, who had won the series against them in Chicago on April 11. The rematch and four-game series in Boston resulted in three wins for the Red Sox, who will be especially excited by the strong back-to-back starts from their new pitchers, Crochet and Buehler.

The Red Sox's hitting was opportune, but Trevor Story had a strong offensive series. In the final games, he hit four runs in all and went 7-for-14 with two home runs. With this, the Red Sox remain at Fenway Park to play without a day's rest against the Mariners and their solid starting rotation. Even so, the Red Sox will open as favorites at around -135 to win that first game.

However, after the slow start, the Mariners seem to have put that behind them, as they have an 8-2 record in their last 10 games. In a series that looked even, they beat the Blue Jays 2 games to 1, scoring 8 runs in games 2 and 3.
