The Boston Red Sox (56-49) will play game two of their 3-game home series against the Seattle Mariners (56-52) Tuesday night at Fenway. Boston had lost 7 of their last 9 games prior to facing this Seattle team on Monday. They exploded for 7 runs in the 3rd inning and never looked back as they defeated the Mariners 14-7. Masataka Yoshida went 3-5 with a double and home run and picked up 4 RBIs in the win. Seattle had finally broken away from losing 8 of 9 by sweeping the White Sox as they came into this series. The 14-7 loss snapped that short 3-game losing streak. Tonight, they will turn to Luis Castillo (8-10, 3.38) in hopes that he can repeat his previous start where he pitched 6 innings of scoreless baseball. He struck out 7 and allowed just 5 hits against the Angels in his last outing. He will be opposed by James Paxton (8-2, 4.43) who will be making his 1st start for the Red Sox after being acquired from the Dodgers. Paxton gave up 3 earned over 5 innings against these Red Sox in his last start. He will be happy to have that lineup backing him this time.

The Red Sox do have the 3rd best combined batting average in the league and are 7th in total runs. That does not bode well for Castillo who opened his season against them and was rocked for 4 runs on 5 hits over 5 innings and took a loss.
