The final game of the two featured in the NHL on Friday will be a battle between two Western Conference foes. The Seattle Kraken (12-10-6) will head on the road to face the Utah Mammoth (14-15-3).
Seattle snapped an ugly 6-game losing streak that began at the end of November and bled into December. Their 3-2 win at home over the Kings was powered by Vince Dunn’s goal and 2 assists. Joey Daccord had one of his best games this season as he stopped 24 of the 26 shots he faced. While the Kraken are currently inside the Top 10 in goals allowed, they are dead last in goals scored. The offensive struggles need to be changed for this Kraken team to begin heading in the right direction.
Utah has not had a good run lately either. They lost their last 3 to finish up last month and have since gone 2-4, including a current 3-game losing streak this month. They have been outscored 10-5 during the current losing streak and find themselves plummeting in the Central Division standings. Scoring overall has not been a large issue for the Mammoth as they rank 10th in that category. They simply have not been finishing games. Over half of their losses have come by just 1 goal.
This will be the 1st meeting between these teams. With both teams struggling lately, this game could determine how the rest of the month will go for each.
