Friday will see a West Coast showdown as the 25-47-4 Anaheim Ducks host the 31-31-13 Seattle Kraken at Honda Center. Anaheim won in Calgary on Tuesday to snap a seven-game losing streak on the road. Troy Terry netted his 20th of the season in that win, his third season in a row hitting that mark but his first points in six games while Alex Killorn scored twice to lift himself to 499 points in his career. Playing at home has not been the boost to the team this year in their 30th anniversary season that fans would have liked. Only the San Jose Sharks have won fewer games on their home ice, leaving the Ducks sub .500 for the sixth year in a row.
The Kraken have not fared a huge amount better, struggling offensively this season, a year after making it into the playoffs and knocking out the defending champion Colorado Avalanche. This is only their 7th road game in their last 22 games so it is more disappointing that they have not made more of a run towards the playoffs in the second half of the season. They have been held back by a severe lack of goals but have scored four in their last two games against the Ducks which came back-to-back at the end of March. In fact, this will be the third time that they have taken on the Ducks in a six-game span so the teams know each other well enough by now. Special teams got five of the six goals in their 4-2 win on March 28. Both Ducks goals came shorthanded and three of the Kraken's four came on the power play.
