Brazilian coach Andre Jardine played his 100th match at the helm of Mexico's most famous club, América. He took over in 2023, and die-hard fans criticized his choice, but since taking over, Jardine has undoubtedly done a great job. In those 100 matches, he only suffered 15 defeats and played in eight finals. He will always be remembered for the unprecedented three-time championship he achieved with América.
Jardine has faced competition, with Toluca making a strong entrance and snatching the last two trophies from América in the final. So far this season, América has been able to regain its winning form since the conclusion of the Leagues Cup, achieving a winning streak that saw them defeat Querétaro, Tigres, Atlas, and Pachuca before losing to Chivas.
In the previous matchday, the ninth, América traveled to Bancomer Stadium to face Monterrey. The truth is that the Águilas started poorly in that match, generating only 0.14 xG in the first half, trailing 0-2 at halftime. But the roles reversed in the second half, and with goals from Aguirre and Juárez, América tied the score, scoring twice after the 90th minute.
Atlético San Luis, Andre Jardine's former team from which América acquired him for his good work, will be América's next opponent. San Luis has won three times this season, but none of them came at the Alfonso Lastras Stadium.
