It is extremely early in the season, but we have 2 teams that have had opposite starts to kick off their 2026-2027 campaigns. The San Jose Sharks take their undefeated record on the road to face the Dallas Stars, who are still searching for their first win of the season.
San Jose opened their season with an overtime win against the Florida Panthers at home. They blew a 3-0 lead and were held scoreless from midway through the 2nd period until early in overtime. Luca Cagnoni was the hero and scored the game-winning goal. Their 2nd game was very similar. They led 3-1 and then 4-2 midway through the 3rd period. They then allowed 2 goals from the Kings that forced overtime. There, Igor Charnyshov scored his 2nd goal of the game and lifted the Sharks to the 5-4 win.
The Dallas Stars have had serious offensive problems through their first two games. They opened the season with a 4-0 loss to the Blues. They managed just 25 shots in the loss, and Jake Oettinger allowed 4 goals on just 24 shots from the Blues. In their 2nd game, they struck first against the Predators just 47 seconds into the game. Unfortunately, that would be their only goal of the game, and they fell 2-1.
