The 2024/25 NHL season brought very difficult times for the Anaheim Ducks and the San Jose Sharks that caused these teams to practically generate no expectations for the current season. However, both are currently highlighted as two of the biggest outliers in the Western Conference because they have been able to remain in playoff spots by the first half of the regular season.

With this in mind, their next Monday night’s game is expected to be one of the most interesting, and even though the bookies’ odds made the Anaheim Ducks favorites to win, the reality is that they cannot underestimate the Sharks. Additionally, the Ducks have lost their momentum, as they were only able to win one of their last five games, but the good news for them is that Leo Carlsson finally made his return during their 6-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings.

Meanwhile, the San Jose Sharks were able to secure an invaluable victory over the Vancouver Canucks just after the Christmas break (6-3), but despite that wonderful result, which allowed them to take the Utah Mammoth down from the playoffs’ spots, they only have a one-point advantage over the Seattle Kraken and St. Louis Blues. Considering this, losing this road game against the Ducks will most likely take them down from the playoffs’ spots too.
