The Pittsburgh Penguins will take on the Carolina Hurricanes in a Metropolitan Division matchup on Tuesday night at PPG Paints Arena.
The Penguins are looking to regain momentum after suffering an eight-game skid earlier this month. They have started to show signs of improvement, winning two of their last three games, including their last outing against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.
Pittsburgh's offense erupted for four first-period goals in Sunday’s game, and the team had its best attacking performance of the season, winning 7-3. Justin Brazeau grabbed the headlines with his first career hat trick.
Sidney Crosby’s crew will now attempt to win back-to-back games for only the third time since the start of November. Following a positive start to the campaign, times have been difficult for the Penguins, especially after losing Evgeni Malkin to an upper-body injury three and a half weeks ago.
On Tuesday, Pittsburgh may have to do without another key player, as Erik Karlsson missed Monday’s practice due to illness.
Carolina is expected to remain without Seth Jarvis and Jaccob Slavin, while K’Andre Miller is questionable after missing Saturday’s win over the Detroit Red Wings due to a lower-body injury. Injuries have accompanied Carolina all season. Yet, Rod Brind’Amour’s team is battling for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

Our Pittsburgh Penguins vs Carolina Hurricanes Prediction
Sitting eight points ahead of Pittsburgh in the Metropolitan Division standings, the Hurricanes have shown they are a better team. Last season, Brind’Amour’s side won all three head-to-head meetings, and the team appears to be well-placed to extend the winning streak on Tuesday.
Pittsburgh produced some good stuff early in the campaign, but they have won only a handful of games this month and could be without two hugely important players against Carolina. Malkin’s exit from the lineup has been a blow for the offense, while Karlsson would be missed on both ends of the ice.
Our prediction for Carolina Hurricanes vs. Pittsburgh Penguins: Hurricanes to win.
